IK Brage

IK Brage formed on 6 February 1925, after the football side of IK Blixt broke away from a short-lived merger with Domnarvets IF, and took its name from Brage, the Norse god of poetry.

That spring the club, playing outside the top flight, reached the Svenska Cupen final and took Malmö to penalties after a 3-3 draw through extra time, losing the shoot-out 4-3. It remains the only cup final in the club's history. That run had a face: Rolf Zetterlund, player-coach from 1977, who took Brage up from the third division and, in the same 1980 season, guided them to fourth place in Allsvenskan while collecting Sweden's Guldbollen himself.

Since then Brage has settled into life as a fixture of Sweden's second tier. The nearest recent brush with it came in 2019, when third place in Superettan sent the club into the promotion play-offs, where Kalmar ended the run. Domnarvsvallen, known commercially as Borlänge Energi Arena, holds 6,500 in green and white.

Among those who came through the club, one name still carries particular weight around the ground: Lennart "Kral" Andersson, the coach who brought Brage back up to Superettan in 2009.
