Palmira sits in Valle del Cauca, a short drive from Cali, and for decades its top-flight football belonged to a different town. That changed on 10 January 2024, when the Martán family took the licence of Cortuluá — dissolved that same day in Tuluá — and moved it whole into the city, renaming the team Internacional F.C. de Palmira.

Nothing about the shift was gradual. A club with a place in the Colombian second division simply stopped existing under one name in one city and started again, hours later, under another, thirty kilometres away. Internacional plays in green and white, the home shirt striped horizontally, the away kit plain white, and its ground is the Estadio Francisco Rivera Escobar, which holds 15,300.

The nicknames travelled with it too: El Corazón del Valle, the heart of the valley, and Los Paneleros.

Everything the team can point to on paper it holds through that inheritance rather than anything won under its own name. Two Primera B titles, from 1993 and 2009, and a third-place finish at the Under-20 Copa Libertadores in 2016, sit in the record books under Cortuluá — a club that, since 10 January 2024, no longer takes the field anywhere.
