The club carries the Kenya Commercial Bank name outright and the nickname Sidwedwe, Swahili shorthand for "the bankers."

The one honour on record, the Kenya Transparency Cup, came in 2004, sealed by a winning goal from Robert Odhier. A league title has never followed; the closest the club has come was finishing runners-up in the 2020/21 Kenya Premier League season, a campaign that still stands as the high-water mark domestically.

Individual seasons have mattered more to the club's story than team ones. In 2013, Jacob Keli took both the league's Golden Boot and its Player of the Year award while wearing KCB colours, with Brian Osumba named the division's best midfielder the same year.
