«Sillastrybarna»
Anton Salétros has spent nearly his whole career at Strandvallen, and the captain was still there in 2025 when Mjällby AIF won the Allsvenskan title for the first time. The club, formed in 1939 through a merger of two local sides in Sölvesborg, had never finished top of the Swedish league before that season.
The town itself sits in Blekinge, on Sweden's south coast, a place better known for herring fishing than for football — hence the nickname Sillastrybarna, the herring-throat boys. Strandvallen holds 6,000, modest even by Allsvenskan standards, and the club still plays in the yellow and black it has worn since its founding.
Before the league title, Mjällby's history had mostly been one of moving between divisions: promotion from Superettan in 2009, relegation, promotion again in 2019. The step up to champions came without the buildup of near-misses — no long run of second-place finishes, just a season where the table went their way. The following campaign brought a second trophy, the Svenska Cupen, giving the club back-to-back honours after decades without a major one.
Two titles in consecutive seasons, for a club whose previous highlight was a pair of second-division championships.
