Roma Women

Rome's own club had waited more than a century to field a women's team wearing its badge, and when it finally did, it took over the Serie A licence held by SSD Res Roma, a club that had already spent five years in the top flight. Betty Bavagnoli took the new side through its first competitive season and stayed three years as its founding coach, while Elisa Bartoli, who had worn Roma's colours a decade earlier at the old Roma CF, came back to captain it from the start.

The squad has since been built around players who arrived by very different roads. Valentina Giacinti arrived from Fiorentina in 2021 and has been the club's leading scorer since.
