Slavia Mozyr

Anatoly Yurevich was in charge of a side still going by the name MPKC when it took the 1996 title off Dinamo Minsk — the first champion Belarus had ever crowned. The shirt read MPKC then; it had spent 1987 to the mid-1990s as Polesie, working up from the bottom tier under Belarusian and, before that, Byelorussian SSR football, and it would change hands and letters more than once before the decade was out.

By 1998 a concern called Slavneftedukt held the controlling stake, and the club took the name it has carried, in one form or another, ever since: Slavia. Under Alexander Kuznetsov in 2000 it did the double, league and cup, with Roman Vasilyuk finishing as both the season's best player and its top scorer. Relegation followed in 2005, then a run of mergers and renamings, ZLiN, Mozyr-ZLiN, plain Mozyr, before the Slavia-Mozyr name returned in 2008. Yury Maleev, once a player for the club himself, took it back up to the top flight between 2010 and 2014.

Two names from the academy carry further than the trophies. Alexander Kulchiy went on to make more appearances for the Belarus national team than anyone else, 102 caps, and was named the country's footballer of the year in 2009. Sergei Yaromko finished top scorer of the Belarusian championship in both 1995 and 1998.

Matches against Gomel are still called the Polesie derby. Home games are played at Yunost, a ground in Mozyr that holds around 5,300, in the red, black and white the club has kept through every change of ownership and name.
