Sloboda are back in the Bosnian Premier League, promoted in 2024 after winning the First League of the Federation.
The government banned it in 1924.
The strongest years came in the Yugoslav First League. Third place in 1976–77 remains the highest the club has finished; before that came promotion as Second League champions in 1958–59, and the Yugoslav Cup final in 1970–71. The Intertoto Cup of 1983 was shared with another club, as was the Yugoslav League Challenge won in 1971–72.
Six Bosnian Cup finals since 1994–95 have all ended the same way. The most recent, in 2015–16, came in the middle of a spell back in the top division.
Home is Stadion Tušanj, where the crveno-crni — red and black, the colours and the nickname both — play in front of a ground that holds 7,200. The derby with Tuzla City is the one the city argues about now; the older rivalry, with Čelik Zenica, belongs to the Yugoslav era.
