Igdir Belediyespor saw off Fatih Karagümrük 2:0 in the opening round of the 1. league regular season on Saturday. The hosts controlled the tempo from the start, taking the lead through Giovanni Crociata in the thirteenth minute and adding a second late on when Douglas Tanque got over the line in the eighty-fifth. By then Fatih had already been forced into a reshuffle at the break, bringing on Emre Akbaba at the interval, but the change never quite clicked.
Crociaata's opener came after a period of sustained pressure, and the goal gave Igdir a cushion that let them sit back and manage the game. Fatih's best chances came from set pieces — they won four corners to Igdir's three — but none of them troubled the goalkeeper. The yellow card to C. Kurukalip in the thirty-eighth minute was the first warning, and D. Erdogan's booking in the forty-seventh showed how the visitors were struggling to contain the visitors' movement.
The second half brought more changes, with M. Camara replacing A. Pesic for Igdir in the sixtieth minute and C. Kurukalip coming off for Fatih in the sixty-second. Fatih's coach tried to lift the tempo, but the visitors' shots accuracy of 0.71 meant every chance counted — and they could only manage five shots on target in total, three of them from outside the area. Igdir were more patient, playing through their 54 per cent possession and waiting for the right moment.
Douglas Tanque's goal in the eighty-fifth minute was the seal, a simple finish that ended any lingering doubt. The statistics tell the story: Igdir registered 121 attacks to Fatih's 91, and their 11 shots on target came from a higher volume of attempts. Fatih had the better accuracy per shot, but accuracy means little when you cannot generate enough opportunities.
The result moves Igdir into a stronger position in the table. They sit fifth with 12 points from six games, four wins and two defeats, while Fatih remain eleventh on eight points with two wins, two draws and two losses. The gap between them is now four points, and for the visitors the opening round has been a reminder of what happens when you do not control the game.
