Boulogne and Dijon played out a 1-1 draw in Ligue 2's fifth round at the Stade de la Libération on Friday evening. The result leaves both sides winless after five matches, with the hosts sitting fourteenth on three points and the visitors seventeenth on two.
Theo Epailly gave the home side the lead in the 37th minute, finishing a move that had the crowd stirring. Boulogne controlled much of the early territory, but the visitors held firm and waited for their moment.
Tyris Dong responded for Dijon in the 63rd minute, and the game settled into a rhythm neither side could break. By then the yellow cards had started to accumulate, with Ben-Chayeel Hamada and Julien Boyer both cautioned in quick succession.
Substitutions came thick and fast in the second half, with seven changes between the 57th and 87th minutes as both managers searched for something more. The match grew scrappy towards the end, and W. Diouf picked up a booking in stoppage time.
Dijon held 54 per cent possession but could only convert six shots on target into one goal, while Boulogne managed four on target from ten attempts. Both sides created one big chance each, and the statistics tell a story of chances going begging rather than dominance.
The draw keeps both clubs in the lower reaches of the table, and neither side has yet broken their duck. The hosts remain on three points from four draws and one defeat, while Dijon sit on two points after two draws and two losses.
