Chrobry Głogów and Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała played out a 1:1 draw in the fourth round of the I Liga on Saturday. The result keeps both sides in the lower half of the table, though it does little to change their positions. Home side Chrobry remain fourth with 11 points after seven games, while visitors Podbeskidzie sit sixteenth on 6 points from the same number of matches.
J. Lis opened the scoring shortly before the break, finding the net in the 45th minute plus one. Podbeskidzie responded after the interval when M. Urynowicz equalised in the 57th. The match then turned into a tense affair, particularly after K. Gach was sent off in the 77th minute following two yellow cards. The incident went to review in the sense that the red card came after accumulated bookings, but the punishment was immediate.
Chrobry dominated possession at 58 per cent and launched 96 attacks compared to 59 for their visitors. Yet the statistics tell only part of the story. Both sides managed just two shots on target each, suggesting chances were at a premium rather than plentiful. Podbeskidzie's resilience was evident — they were second to everything in possession but held firm.
The home side made three substitutions around the hour mark, bringing on B. Martosz, W. Slomka and M. Sitek. Podbeskidzie responded with changes of their own, introducing A. Rybak in the 65th minute and later adding R. Bak and J. Lis in the 74th. K. Gach's dismissal forced Podbeskidzie to tighten things up, and they held on grimly for the remainder.
For Chrobry, the draw extends a pattern of inconsistent results. They beat ŁKS Łódź 2:1 on their opening day but lost to Odra and Ślą Wrocław since then. Podbeskidzie have been remarkably consistent — five draws and one defeat in their last six matches. Cup football has its own rules, but this is league football, and Podbeskidzie need the points badly to climb away from bottom.
