Gyöngyösi KK — Szigetszentmiklósi KSK: 27:27, NB I

Gyonysy and Szigetszentmiklósi KSK played out a 27:27 draw in the NB I on Saturday evening. Both sides came into the fixture on two points from two games, and by then you know what that means — neither side was willing to hand the other anything. The result keeps them level in the table, home side still sitting in tenth and visitors eighth.

We had Gyonysy to win it, gave them 59 per cent confidence, and the match went another way. Not that there was much to separate the two teams. They traded goals through the opening half and neither goalkeeper could claim he stood out, and here's the thing — the score never really broke open.

Both sides showed the sort of inconsistency we've seen from them recently. Gyonysy had thrashed Balatonfüred 35:33 one week before, then went and lost 22:35 to Tatabánnya. Szigetszentmiklósi beat Budai Farkasok 25:24 but had dropped points to PLER in a 25:26 loss. By then it was clear neither side had found a rhythm.

The second half followed the same pattern. Goals came at regular intervals, neither side could build any real momentum, and the players seemed to be playing into each other rather than against them. The away end never stopped, but it wasn't enough to shift the balance.

So both teams walk away with one point each. Gyonysy remain tenth, Szigetszentmiklósi hold eighth. The gap between them is still only two places and two points, and that's about as clear as it gets.
