Strømsgodset claimed a comfortable 3-1 victory over Ranheim at Extra Arena in the First Division's Regular Season match on Friday. Håvard Stengel opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 18th minute before adding a second goal in the 58th minute to put the visitors in control. Martin Sylva extended the lead in the 70th minute, and Brage Sormo sealed the result with an eighth-minute strike in stoppage time.
Strømsgodset's dominance was evident throughout. They controlled 67 per cent of possession and registered 123 attacks compared to Ranheim's 90. The visitors registered nine shots on target and converted three, while Ranheim could only manage two shots on target from 10 attempts off target. The statistical gap reflected the quality of chances created.
Ranheim pushed back after the half-hour mark but could not find a way through. They had corners to spare, winning just two to the visitors' 12. Two yellow cards for their players — J. Storevik in the 17th minute and K. Krasniqi in the 65th — highlighted the frustration of a team that could not contain Strømsgodset's movement.
Strømsgodset made several substitutions to manage their lead. Martin Lundgren came on in the 60th minute, followed by a triple change in the 71st minute involving Ørjan Enersen, Hallvard Gangstad and Aslak Fossli. Additional changes in the second half brought on Sindre Sjøvold, Fredrik P. Vilaseca Ardraa, Kristoffer Antonsen and Jørgen Taaje.
The result moves Strømsgodset further clear in fourth place with 42 points from 21 matches — 12 wins, six draws and three defeats. Ranheim remain in 10th position with 24 points, their record standing at seven wins, three draws and 11 losses. The two sides are now 18 points apart.
