Sandefjord and Brann played out a goalless draw in the Eliteserien's nineteenth round on Sunday. The hosts took three points from their last two fixtures before this stalemate ended a promising run. Both sides finished with an unconvincing display, though the visitors carried more intent into the final third.
The first half passed without incident until the eighteenth minute, when T. Pedersen picked up a yellow card for a late challenge. Brann controlled possession without threatening, while Sandefjord sat deeper and looked to counter. The visitors created one big chance but failed to test the goalkeeper.
When the second half began, neither side changed approach. X. Lambrix went into the book at the hour mark after a tactical foul. Sandefjord brought on N. Kasanwirjo to replace Pedersen, while E. Gudmundsson came on for Brann six minutes later. The game remained Cagey.
Substitutions increased the tempo. J. Dunsby and O. Kapskarmo arrived together at the seventy-fifth minute, followed by E. Patoulidis and V. Egeli. Brann added N. Holm at the eighty-fifth, and T. Borkeeiet and N. Castro both picked up yellow cards in the closing stages. K. Kjartansson was the last to be booked, arriving at ninety-plus-two.
Statistics tell a story of missed opportunities. Sandefjord registered five shots on target alongside eight off target, while Brann managed four on and six off. The visitors dominated possession at 53 per cent and passed into the final third 115 times compared to the hosts' 86. Yet neither side could convert.
The result leaves Sandefjord in thirteenth place on 18 points from 17 games. Brann move up to sixth with 25 points, maintaining a seven-point gap over those below them. Both sides remain in separate parts of the table, and neither will feel satisfied with a point.
Sandefjord's recent form included victories over Eidsberg and Sarpsborg 08 before this draw broke their momentum. Brann had won four of their last five across all competitions, including European fixtures against PАОК. This stalemate will do little to ease pressure on either manager.
Three yellow cards for the visitors and two for the hosts reflected a match that grew increasingly physical. Neither goalkeeper faced more than five saves, and neither side created enough clear-cut opportunities to justify the result. The Eliteserien continues without either side gaining ground.
