Norrköping Overcome Early Setback to Beat Sandviken 4-1
Norrköping came from behind to defeat Sandviken 4-1 at Jernvallen Arena on Saturday, a result that keeps the league leaders at the summit while Sandviken remain ninth. The hosts had taken an unexpected lead through C. Wagner's penalty in the twenty-third minute, but it was all over after that. By then, the visitors had already shown they came to win, not merely to make up the numbers.
Two goals in quick succession before the break turned the match. E. Jemal struck at forty-five and then again at forty-five-plus-two, and suddenly the visitors led 3-1. Sandviken dug in, but they never got going after the interval. The stadium fell silent as Norrköping controlled the tempo.
R. Nelson added a second in the forty-eighth minute, and C. Nyman made it 4-1 in the sixty-sixth. Nelson was then substituted at the seventy-eighth, perhaps a tactical decision rather than fatigue. Sandviken picked up two bookings in five minutes around the sixty-fifth minute, but the damage was done.
There were plenty of changes on both sides after the hour mark. Sandviken brought on V. Backman and A. Carleton, while Norrköping introduced T. Prica and V. Christiansson together at sixty-six. K. Bohm came on for Sandviken in the eighty-fifth minute, but there was nothing left to fight for.
The statistics tell the story clearly enough. Norrköping enjoyed 55 per cent possession and registered ten shots on target compared to Sandviken's two. The hosts managed only one shot off target, while the visitors had seven. There is unrest in the dressing room when you can't create chances like this.
At the other end of the table, the gap between first and ninth is now 18 points. Norrköping have 48 points from 22 games, while Sandviken sit on 30 with eight wins, six draws and eight losses. The visitors had already beaten Sandviken 3-0 in July, and this result extends that dominance.
