Seoul E-Land and Paju Citizen played out a 1-1 draw in K-League 2's Regular Season round 23 on Sunday. The result leaves the hosts fourth in the table while the visitors remain twelfth. It's the sort of match where two teams trade blows but neither can quite find the breakthrough they need.
Seoul E-Land took the lead just before the hour mark when substitute Lee Jea-Ho scored in the 46th minute. He had come on for Bae Seo-Joon, who had picked up a yellow card just before half-time. The goal came quickly after the break and put the hosts ahead, though by then Paju had already settled into their shape.
Paju Citizen equalised through Bak Jae-Yong in the 59th minute. Seoul E-Land made several changes after the break, bringing on Lee Min-Ki, Alan Carius, and three others in quick succession. The visitors held their nerve despite the pressure, and the match opened up considerably.
Paju had more to do in the second half but couldn't convert their chances. Seoul E-Land dominated possession at 56 per cent and registered 12 corners to the visitors' four. But possession doesn't always tell the full story — the pitch cut up badly after the rain, and both sides struggled to string passes together in the final third.
The statistics show Seoul E-Land with nine shots on target and six off target, while Paju managed three on target and one wide. They didn't need more than that to rescue a point from a difficult away fixture. The visitors' shot accuracy of 0.50 was marginally better than the hosts' 0.47, and that made the difference.
Seoul E-Land now sit fourteenth on 42 points after 23 games, while Paju remain twelfth with 25 points. The hosts have won three of their last five matches, including a 3-1 victory over Ansan Greeners, but this draw ends a run of consistency they had built up. Paju's recent form hasn't been kind — they've lost four of their last five — and this point gives them something to build on.
