Djurgården came from behind to beat Šiauliai 4-3 in the A Lyga's 26th round on Saturday. It was a match where either side could have taken all three points, but the visitors held their nerve to extend their mid-table stay while Šiauliai's struggles deepened.
V. Piliukaitis opened the scoring in the fifth minute, giving Šiauliai an early advantage. Djurgården responded through D. Naah in the 52nd minute before Pedro Bahia equalised in the 57th. D. Ikaunieks then converted a penalty in the 70th minute to complete the turnaround, though not before missing his spot-kick earlier in the same minute.
The statistics tell a story of possession but not necessarily control. Šiauliai managed 46 per cent of the ball with five shots on target, while Djurgården had 54 per cent possession and eight shots on target. Both sides were active in attack, Šiauliai registering 105 attacks and the visitors 113.
Šiauliai remain ninth in the table with 16 points from 27 games — three wins, seven draws and 17 defeats. Djurgården sit sixth on 38 points, ten victories, eight draws and nine losses. The result does little to change the landscape, but Šiauliai's form suggests they are on the brink of a move that could see them drop further.
