Žalgiris Vilnius saw off Dygūzas 2-0 in the A-Liga's twenty-eighth round on Sunday evening. The result leaves the hosts six points behind the table leaders with two games remaining. Not a perfect performance, but one that mattered.
I remember the twentieth minute when the game felt balanced. Both sides had their chances but neither could find the decisive edge. By then, the home side had already shown more intent in attack, keeping Dygūzas on the back foot for large stretches.
It took until the fifty-ninth minute for I. Lytvynenko to break the deadlock. The goal came from a well-worked move, and the visitors tightened things up immediately after. Dygūzas pushed forward, but the home defence held firm through the middle period of play.

Statistically, Žalgiris dominated with 129 attacks against 109 and 59 per cent possession. They registered five shots on target to three, and their extra pressure told in the end. Dygūzas managed five corners but struggled to create clear chances.
The hosts sit sixth with 37 points from 24 matches, while Dygūzas remain fifth on 38 from 26. The gap remains tight, and every result matters now. This was not a statement win, but it kept them in it.
