Turan Gəncə secured a narrow 2:1 victory over Sumqayıt in the Azerbaijan Premier League on Saturday. The result keeps the hosts in fifth place while the visitors remain rooted to the bottom of the table. It was a match decided by three goals spread across different phases, and not much else separated the sides statistically.
R. Vasquez gave the home side an early lead in the ninth minute, though his celebration was checked by a yellow card of his own just ten minutes later. To be fair, the game did not look settled until the visitors struck back. Jo Batista found the equaliser in the twentieth minute, and that was the moment the match really opened up.
