Norrköping moved further clear at the summit of the Superettan when they beat United Nordic 3-1 in Regular Season round 21 on Friday. The visitors took control early and managed the game well enough to secure three points that stretch their advantage over the chasing pack.
The opening goal came at the 14th minute when Christoffer Nyman found the net for the away side. To be fair, Norrköping had looked sharper in the opening exchanges and that breakthrough felt inevitable. Theodor Johansson doubled the advantage at the 26th minute before Nyman added his second at the 36th minute to put the hosts into a hole they would not escape.
United Nordic had a chance to respond but could only manage a late penalty at the 79th minute, which Nyman converted to make it 3-1. The visitors saw out the remainder of the match without conceding, though there were four yellow cards in total between them. Elias Andersson and Amar Dzevlan went off together at the hour mark, while United Nordic made three changes of their own at the same stage.
The statistics tell a story of dominance that did not fully translate into goals for the hosts. United Nordic recorded 58 attacks and won 15 corners, yet their shots accuracy sat at just 21 per cent with only three shots on target. Norrköping, by contrast, hit 50 per cent accuracy from five shots on target and controlled 58 per cent of possession.
After 21 games United Nordic sit sixth with 32 points, three wins clear of the relegation zone. Norrköping remain top with 47 points, and this result extends their lead at the summit. The gap between them now stands at 15 points, and the visitors have won five of their last six matches to boot.
