Match Report
Ústí nad Labem beat Dukla Prague 4-1 in the fifth round of the FNL on Friday evening. The hosts took all three points at home, extending their unbeaten run to five matches while the visitors dropped further from the top half. The result keeps Ústí in the upper reaches of the table and leaves Dukla searching for consistency.
Things came to a head early enough. Brezina fired home in the 42nd minute to give the home side the lead, though he picked up a yellow card before the break. Dukla were not done — Svozil turned against his own side in the 48th minute and suddenly the visitors were behind again. By then the pattern was clear: Ústí were making their chances count.
There was a lull in the action for much of the second half, then Mikus restored the two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute. Dukla pushed back, but it was too little, too late. Do Marcolino added a brace in stoppage time — first in the 90+1 minute, then again in the 90+2 minute — to finish the job. The stadium fell silent for the visitors as the final whistle approached.
Statistically, the match was tighter than the scoreline suggests. Ústí had 47 per cent possession and 7 shots on target, while Dukla held 53 per cent and managed only 3 on target. Both sides registered over 80 attacks — 83 to 81 — but the home side converted pressure into goals. Corners told a different story: Dukla edged 6 to 4, yet it made little difference to the outcome.
What it means on the table is straightforward. Ústí remain solid, having now gone five games without defeat. Dukla, meanwhile, have lost their last two competitive outings, including this one, and the gap to the teams above them is growing. Cup football has its own rules, but this was league football, and the result speaks for itself.
