Wuhan Three Towns and Tianjin Teda played out a 0-0 draw in the Super League's regular season round 24 on Saturday at the Wuhan Sports Center Stadium. The result leaves both sides level on 19 points, with the hosts sitting fifteenth and the visitors fourteenth in the table.
The match produced no goals but saw action through cards and substitutions. Adriano Firmino received a yellow card in the forty-fifth minute before Cristian Salvador picked up a booking in the sixty-ninth. Wuhan brought on Guan He in the forty-sixth, while Tianjin made two changes in the fifty-fourth through Qiuming Wang and Jiahui Huang.
By then the pattern was clear. Wuhan dominated possession at 62 per cent and launched 118 attacks compared to Tianjin's 79. They took fifteen shots with four on target, while the visitors managed five shots on target from five attempts. And here's the thing — Wuhan's accuracy rate of fourteen per cent meant most of their efforts found nothing but net.
Tianjin offered little in the way of crosses, completing zero of their five attempts, while Wuhan landed twelve of fifty. The hosts created three big chances but could not convert. Tianjin also registered three big chances without taking either. To be fair, both goalkeepers kept their side in the game with five and four saves respectively.
The statistics tell a story of one team controlling territory without breaking through. Wuhan completed 428 passes against 246 for Tianjin, with 153 passes into the final third compared to just 48. The visitors made 43 clearances to Wuhan's eighteen, showing they spent more time defending than attacking.
Both sides made several substitutions in the second half. Wuhan brought on Dun Ba and Xianjun Wang in the sixty-first minute, followed by Xiaobing Zhang in the seventy-third and Kilian Bevis and Adriano Firmino in the eighty-fourth. Tianjin concluded with Bruno Xadas in the ninetieth.
The draw extends neither team's recent form in any meaningful direction. Wuhan have drawn one of their last five matches, while Tianjin have lost three of their previous five outings. The result keeps both clubs in the same position with nothing gained or lost in the standings.
