Celso Sidney

Celso Sidney arrived at Cherno More Varna in the summer of 2025 as a free agent, signing a three-year contract that runs to 2028. Since making his senior debut with SC Mirandela in 2019, the Portuguese forward had moved on a free transfer or as a free agent at every stop, passing through G.D. Chaves, S.C. Olhanense, a second spell at Mirandela, Leça F.C., Merelinense F.C., Amora F.C. and S.C. Lusitânia before leaving Portugal altogether for Bulgaria.

Born in Mirandela, Sidney came through the youth ranks at GD Cachão before spells in the academies of G.D. Chaves, Boavista and West Ham United. His return to Chaves as a senior player in 2020 did not bring a first-team appearance, and his early years were largely spent accumulating minutes in lower divisions rather than establishing himself at any single club — a single league appearance at Olhanense during the 2020/2021 season was typical of that period.

At Cherno More, the picture has been different. The forward has made 33 appearances and scored four goals. He has not been capped by any Portuguese national side and has yet to win a trophy.
