Evan Caffrey

Evan Caffrey's route into League of Ireland football ran through Shamrock Rovers, where he captained the under-15 side and later played for the under-17s, before leaving the club as a free agent. He signed for University College Dublin in 2021 and made his senior debut that July, going on to make 44 league appearances and score four goals across the First Division and Premier Division.

Shelbourne signed him on a free transfer at the start of 2023, and he has since become a regular in Dublin, passing 125 league appearances and nine goals for the club. His first season at Shelbourne brought individual recognition when extratime.com named him Best Young Player for 2023. The following year he was part of the Shelbourne squad that won the League of Ireland Premier Division title, and in 2025 he added the President of Ireland's Cup to his honours. In February 2025, he signed a contract extension keeping him at Shelbourne until November 2027.

Caffrey has also represented the Republic of Ireland at underage level, earning six caps and scoring twice for the under-19s between 2021 and 2022. He has since received a call-up to the under-21 squad.
