James Barry Norris

James Norris grew up on Merseyside, starting out at Tranmere Rovers before Liverpool brought him into their academy at the age of nine. In December 2019 he was named in the matchday squad for an EFL Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa, coming on to make his senior debut at 16 years and eight months old — at the time the youngest player ever to appear for Liverpool, a mark since taken by Harvey Elliott. He turned professional the following year and signed an extension in 2021, and was part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup in the 2021/22 season, though he did not feature in the final itself.

First-team opportunities at Anfield remained scarce, and Norris spent the 2023/24 season out on loan at Tranmere Rovers, making 20 appearances across all competitions. In February 2025, he joined Shelbourne on a season-long loan. Making 32 league appearances plus outings in the FAI Cup and in Europe, he helped the club to third place in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

On 1 January 2026, Norris signed for Shelbourne outright, ending his time at Liverpool. He opened his account for his new club in August 2026, scoring against St Patrick's Athletic. Away from club football, Norris started in the final of the 2019 Syrenka Cup, which England won on penalties against Poland after he had earlier set up a goal in the group stage against Austria.
