Alistair Michael Coote

Ali Coote's route to Shelbourne ran through three countries. Born in Bedford but qualified for Scotland through his background, he came up through Tayport Thistle before Dundee United took him into their academy in 2013, and he made his senior debut for the club a year later. A loan at East Fife brought two goals in six games, and he later moved south to Brentford B, where he spent three seasons and scored 19 goals in 79 appearances.

It was in Ireland that Coote's career took shape. After a brief stint at Waterford, he joined Bohemians in 2021 and became one of the club's key players, making 92 league appearances and scoring 12 goals across three seasons. He reached the FAI Cup final with Bohemians in 2021, though the tie was lost on penalties, and he won the Leinster Senior Cup in the 2022–23 season, scoring in a 5–0 final win over Usher Athletic.

A move to Detroit City in the USL Championship followed in 2024, but it proved short, just 11 appearances and one goal before he left on a free transfer that June to join Shelbourne. Coote won the League of Ireland Premier Division with Shelbourne in 2024 and added the President of Ireland's Cup in 2025. The club has since committed to him twice, with a one-year extension signed in November 2024 followed by a further two-year deal in October 2025 that ties him to Shelbourne until November 2027.

Coote has represented Scotland at under-15, under-16 and under-17 level, though a senior cap has so far eluded him.
