Francesco Ruberto

Francesco Ruberto grew up in Sambiase, Italy, and began his youth career at Lecce before moving to Switzerland to join Young Boys in 2010, later switching to Thun in 2012. Although born in Italy, he holds Swiss nationality. His senior football started at FC Bern in 2012, and he spent the following years at FC Thun, making 34 appearances in the Swiss Super League after his debut there in September 2015.

In 2020 Ruberto left Switzerland for Bulgaria, signing for Pirin Blagoevgrad, where he played three matches in the Second League. A brief spell at Septemvri Simitli followed in January 2021, but the contract was terminated the following month without him making an appearance. He then returned to Switzerland on a free transfer to FC Schaffhausen, where he became a regular in the Challenge League, playing between 65 and 67 matches over two seasons.

In July 2023 Ruberto moved abroad again, joining FC Vizela in Portugal's Primeira Liga on a free transfer. He made 12 appearances for the club and recorded his top-flight debut in February 2024. He returned to Switzerland once more in July 2025, signing for FC Sion on a free transfer on a contract running until June 2028.

At Sion, Ruberto has taken up the role of backup goalkeeper behind Anthony Racioppi. He has yet to make a competitive debut for the first team, though he has featured twice for Sion's second string.
