About the player
The move that shaped Ivan Posavec's career was a return. He came through the youth ranks at NK Varaždin, left for GNK Dinamo Zagreb's academy in 2011, and after short stops — NK Sesvete, NK Rudeš, a loan at NK Kustošija — went back to Varaždin in February 2019. He made 102 appearances and scored 11 goals, winning two 2. HNL titles, in 2018/19 and 2021/22.
In early 2018 he went to Spain and played twice for CD San Ignacio in the Tercera División.
His first senior appearance came with NK Sesvete in September 2016; NK Rudeš followed in February 2017, with the loan to Kustošija running from July 2017 to January 2018.
The move to NK Olimpija Ljubljana in January 2023 was on a free transfer, and it brought him the Slovenian Prva Liga and the Slovenian Cup in 2022/23. He made 52 appearances there and scored twice.
Zrinjski signed him on a free transfer in July 2024. He played 11 matches and scored once, and the club took the Premier Liga of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024/25. In January 2025 he was loaned to HŠK Posušje for the rest of the season.
For Croatia he played at U19 and U21 level, winning five caps and scoring two goals for the U21 side, including matches in the UEFA U21 Euro 2021 qualifying campaign.
