About the player
Přerov produced Jakub Markovič through the youth ranks of KMK Zubr Přerov and 1. FC Viktorie Přerov before Sigma Olomouc took him on, and Slavia Praha pulled him into its academy in 2017. A first professional contract with Slavia followed two years later, but the club sent him out on a string of loans to gain minutes — spells at Slavia Praha B, Mladá Boleslav, Vlašim and Pardubice, where he made 30 senior appearances.
Baník Ostrava signed him on a free transfer in July 2023. In a Conference League qualifier against FC Copenhagen, he saved two penalties in the shootout, only for his own teammates to miss four of their five spot-kicks, sending Baník out of Europe and leaving supporters frustrated.
Slavia Praha activated a buy-back clause in January 2025, bringing him back to Prague for around €400,000 after Antonín Kinský's departure to Tottenham Hotspur left a vacancy in goal. He signed a contract running to 2029; the club brought in Jakub Třefil on loan from Sigma Olomouc as his replacement.
Back at Slavia, Markovič has been part of Czech First League title wins in 2019–20 and 2024–25, as well as the 2019 Czech-Slovak Supercup.
