About the player
Junker grew up playing for Vinding SF, Vejle Boldklub, Kolding IF and FC Djursland before Randers FC brought him into their academy in 2012, and he made his senior debut for the club two years later. A loan to FC Fredericia in 2015 brought no appearances.
The turning point came in Norway. A loan to Stabæk in August 2019 did enough to earn him a permanent move to Bodø/Glimt in January 2020, and there he flourished: the club won the Eliteserien title that year, with Junker finishing as the league's top scorer on 27 goals. That form took him to Japan in April 2021, when Urawa Red Diamonds paid around €2 million for him. He won the Emperor's Cup with Urawa in 2021 and followed it with the AFC Champions League in 2022.
He later moved on to Nagoya Grampus, first on loan in January 2023 and then permanently a year later, adding the J.League Cup in 2024 to his collection. At international level, Junker represented Denmark at U20 and U21 level without going on to earn senior caps.
His path has since taken him to Buriram United and back to where it started at Randers FC.
