About the player
Karim Konaté joined ASEC Mimosas in 2020 and won the Ivorian Ligue 1 with the club in his first senior season. RB Salzburg signed him in June 2022 for a fee of €3.5 million, then sent him straight back out on loan to partner club FC Liefering, where he scored 15 goals in 18 appearances in the Austrian 2. Liga before returning to Salzburg in January 2023.
He won the Austrian Bundesliga with Salzburg that same season, but it was 2023–24 that marked his breakthrough: Konaté scored 20 league goals to finish as the Bundesliga's top scorer, seven clear of his nearest rivals. In May 2024 he scored his first hat-trick for the club in a 5–1 win over TSV Hartberg.
Konaté was also part of the Ivory Coast squad that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, staged in January 2024, making three substitute appearances during the tournament. He has scored twice for the senior national team, both in a World Cup qualifier against the Seychelles in November 2023.
Across his club career, Konaté has scored 69 goals in 113 appearances.
