About the player
Maurits Kjærgaard came through the Red Bull network at a young age, leaving Lyngby Boldklub's youth ranks in 2019 for FC Liefering, Salzburg's reserve side, where he made 47 appearances and scored 7 goals in the Austrian 2. Liga over two seasons. That development path paid off on 28 February 2021, when he made his first-team debut for Red Bull Salzburg against Sturm Graz.
On 8 March 2022, at 18 years and 255 days old, Kjærgaard scored against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the youngest Danish player to find the net in the competition.
Across his time in Salzburg's first team, he made 90 league appearances and scored 8 goals, and won three Austrian Bundesliga titles and two Austrian Cups. In September 2026 he left for Lille OSC in Ligue 1, signing a five-year contract.
Kjærgaard has represented Denmark at every youth level from U16 through U21, scoring six goals in 19 appearances for the U21 side, though he has yet to add a senior cap.
