Luan Polli Gomes

Luan Polli's route to a starting jersey took him through places goalkeepers rarely go. After coming through the youth ranks at Figueirense and spending time out on loan, he built his career in stops and starts: Sport Recife, Atlético Goianiense, Fortaleza, Coritiba, then further afield still, to Malta's Naxxar Lions and to Nassaji Mazandaran in Iran, where he played in the Iran Professional League and had his contract renewed in 2024. It was not until he joined Athletic Club in March 2026, on the back of a brief spell at Cuiabá, that he secured a regular place in the side.

Coach Alex singled out his performances, including a display against São Bernardo, and Futebol Interior named him in its Team of the Round for Série B.

Luan Polli was part of the Flamengo squad that won the Copa do Brasil in 2013 and the Campeonato Carioca in 2014, and he later collected a Campeonato Goiano winner's medal with Atlético Goianiense in 2022. He has never been capped by Brazil at senior level, and most of the moves that shaped his career, including the ones to Iran and back, came as free transfers rather than fees.
