About the player
Nine years after signing for Chelsea , Matej Delač left the club without ever making a first-team appearance for them. He arrived in west London in 2009 as a highly rated prospect, having already been named Man of the Match on his professional debut for Inter Zaprešić that February. Chelsea's transfer ban delayed the move's completion until 2010, and what followed was one of the longest spells in the club's so-called loan army, with Delač sent out year after year without ever forcing his way into Chelsea's own plans.
When his Chelsea contract finally expired in 2018, Delač moved to AC Horsens on a free transfer. He has become a key figure between the posts there, helping the club back up to the Superliga. Croatian by nationality, he came up through the country's youth ranks from under-15 to under-21 level but has not been capped by the senior national side.
