Mauro Daniel Goicoechea Furia

Goicoechea came through at Danubio, making his debut there in 2006 and winning the Uruguayan Primera División title in his first season, 2006–07. That start eventually earned him a move to Europe: in 2012 he went to AS Roma on loan, with a purchase option attached. He got his chance in Serie A when Maarten Stekelenburg was injured, starting 13 matches in a row, but lost his place after a poor performance against Cagliari and returned to Danubio the following year without Roma exercising the option.

From there his career took him through Romania, Portugal and France. A spell at FC Oțelul Galați was followed by a move to FC Arouca, where he played 33 league matches, before Toulouse signed him in 2015. He stayed six seasons in France, making over 100 appearances across all competitions.

He left Europe in 2022 for CA Boston River, then returned to Danubio on a free transfer in January 2023, the club where he had started out. He was part of the Danubio squad that won the 2013–14 Torneo Apertura, though he did not feature in that campaign, with Salvador Ichazo in goal instead.

At youth level, Goicoechea played one match for Uruguay's under-17s in 2005, reaching the final of the FIFA U-17 World Championship, and won three caps with the under-20s in 2007 as they reached the round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He has not been capped by the senior national team.
