About the player
Miguel Tavares came through Sporting CP's academy before finishing his youth football at SC Braga. He started out at Mirandela, where he scored four goals in nineteen appearances, then spent two seasons at Desportivo Aves. A loan at Penafiel followed in 2020 before a brief return to Casa Pia, the club where his youth career had begun.
He made 37 appearances across two seasons at Belenenses after joining on a free transfer in 2022. He had already had a taste of scoring regularly at União de Santarém, where he found the net twice in thirteen matches. He moved to FC Vizela in 2024 before a loan carried him out of Portuguese football altogether.
That loan took Tavares to Venezuela and Academia Puerto Cabello, where he swapped his usual shirt number for the number 9. He has made thirteen appearances for the club, scoring once and setting up a goal for Junior Paredes in a CONMEBOL Sudamericana match against Lanús. He has also featured against Melgar and Zamora as Puerto Cabello have tested themselves in continental competition.
