About the player
Nikolas Brandis came up through the AS Trenčín academy, appearing for the club in the UEFA Youth League during the 2022/2023 season before signing his first professional contract in November 2023 and making his senior debut the following year. Rather than staying in Trenčín's first-team squad, he spent the 2024/2025 season out on loan at second-tier MŠK Púchov where he made 18–19 appearances and had his loan extended in February 2025.
That spell at Púchov proved to be the platform for a bigger move. On 23 July 2026, Brandis left Slovakia for FC Groningen, signing a four-year contract that runs until July 2030.
A left-footed defender, Brandis now wears the number 12 shirt at Groningen, where he will be looking to build on the experience gained in Slovakia's second tier as he adapts to Dutch football.
