About the player
Signed by KF Turbina in August 2022, the Nigerian forward scored six goals in 25 appearances in his first season in the Albanian First Division, then moved on to KF Skënderbeu, where he became the club's top scorer with nine goals in 18 matches. That form persuaded FC Astana to pay a reported €450,000 for him in April 2024.
He made 26 appearances across all competitions in 2024, with three goals split between the Premier League and the Kazakhstan League Cup, a competition Astana went on to win that year. Ahanonu played just once in the Premier League before Astana sent him out on loan to FC Kyzyl-Zhar in July 2025. He did not make a single appearance there and returned to Astana at the end of the year.
