Oliver Zelenika

Zelenika spent six years at NK Varaždin as captain and first choice, playing 149 matches for the club and taking them into European competition. He arrived there in February 2020 as a free agent and stayed until August 2026, when he signed for APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus. The fee was not made public, though reports suggested Varaždin had been looking for around €300,000.

He came through NK Špansko Zagreb as a boy before joining the Dinamo Zagreb academy in 2006, and signed his first professional contract with Dinamo in 2011. He made loans rather than league football: a full season at NK Rudeš in 2012/13, 29 appearances, then a move to NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in January 2014 that turned permanent that July. He made 58 appearances for Lokomotiva before leaving in 2016.

He did not score away, but did not concede either. He joined the Polish club Lechia Gdańsk in 2017 and played once, leaving as a free agent in October 2018. NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands signed him that same month; he was gone by July 2019.

His international football came early. He was in the Croatia side at the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Turkey, and a year later was named in the 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil, wearing number 12 as third goalkeeper behind Stipe Pletikosa and Danijel Subašić. He did not appear in the tournament, and Croatia went out in the group stage.
