Rodrigo Alonso Martín

Fifteen years inside one club. Rodrigo Alonso Martín — Rodri to teammates — joined Villarreal's structure at the age of seven, according to Marca, after starting out at Castellón in the city where he was born. He stayed until July 2025.

The route up was the long one. In 2019 he moved formally into the Villarreal youth setup, and in 2021/22 he played 34 matches for the third team, Villarreal C, in Primera División RFEF, without scoring. On 1 July 2022 he was promoted to the reserves, and on 3 September that year he made his professional debut in the Segunda División against Mirandés.

That first season at Villarreal B brought nine appearances, so he spent the rest of it on loan at Albacete Balompié, where he played ten Segunda matches. Back at the reserves he became a regular: 35 games in 2023/24, then 31 in 2024/25 with the team down in Primera División RFEF. Across his time in the B side he made between 74 and 78 appearances and scored once.

In July 2025 he left Villarreal as a free agent and signed for Moreirense in Portugal, on a contract running to June 2028. He wears number 21 there. By late 2026 he had added two more matches in the 2026/27 season.

Spain called him up through the youth ranks — five caps at under-16 level in 2019, three at under-17 the same year, five at under-19 between 2021 and 2022. There has been no senior call-up. No titles or individual awards are on record.
