Santiago Ramos Mingo

When Bahia presented Santiago Ramos Mingo in January 2025, the club did so with a figure attached: the defender arrived at a reported 8 million US dollars for 70% of his economic rights, with around 4.5 million going directly to Defensa y Justicia.

The path there ran through two continents. Ramos Mingo came up in the Boca Juniors academy between 2018 and 2020, then left Argentina in February 2020 for Barcelona B . Two seasons in Catalonia brought 35 appearances and one goal.

The move to Belgium in the summer of 2022 did not work. At OH Leuven he never played a match for the first team, spending the season with the reserves instead — 18 games and three goals in the Belgian third division. In January 2023 he went back to Argentina on loan to Defensa y Justicia .

That was the reset. He played 19 matches across all competitions in his first months at the club, including the 2023 Copa Sudamericana, where Defensa reached the quarter-finals. In December 2023 the club bought his rights outright. The following year was his heaviest workload yet: 40 appearances, four goals and an assist in 2024, though Defensa went out at the group stage of that season's Sudamericana.
