Thomas Cannon

Tom Cannon scored four goals against Portsmouth on 2 October 2024, while on loan at Stoke City, making him the first Stoke player to reach that tally in a single match since 2000.

Cannon joined Everton's academy at the age of ten and signed his first professional contract in March 2021, though senior chances at Goodison Park were limited to three appearances. A loan at Preston North End in the second half of the 2022–23 season saw him score eight goals in 20 games, persuading Leicester City to pay around £7.5 million for him in September 2023. He was part of the Leicester squad that won the Championship title in 2023–24, though he spent much of that campaign out on loan at Stoke, where his form — including the Portsmouth haul — earned him a nomination for the PFA Championship Fans' Player of the Month for November 2024.

Recalled by Leicester in January 2025, he moved on to Sheffield United for a reported £10 million later that month on a contract running to 2029. At international level, Cannon qualified for the Republic of Ireland and made his senior debut as a substitute in a 3–0 defeat to Portugal in June 2024, later being named in the squad for the November 2024 Nations League fixtures.
