Tiago Coimbra

Tiago Coimbra made his name in Halifax, not Gothenburg. Signed by Halifax Wanderers in December 2022 out of Brazilian youth football, the forward spent three seasons in the Canadian Premier League, scoring 19 times in 61 league appearances. The high point came late: on 22 August 2025 he scored the first hat-trick in Halifax Wanderers' history, in a 4-1 win over Valour FC. That capped a 2025 campaign in which he scored 12 league goals, tying the CPL record for most goals by a player under 21 in a single season and finishing runner-up in the Golden Boot race. The league recognised him as its Best Under-21 Canadian Player of the Year for 2025.

Halifax finished fourth in the 2025 table and went out to York United in the play-in round, closing the chapter on Coimbra's time with the club. In January 2026 he moved to IFK Göteborg for a fee that Halifax described as a club record.

Born in Fortaleza, Coimbra holds dual Brazilian and Canadian citizenship. He won four caps for Canada's under-20 side in 2022, scoring once, including a goal at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship. On 17 January 2026 he featured for Canada against Guatemala, a match played outside an official FIFA window.
