About the player
Zeca came through the youth ranks at Santos before making his senior debut there in 2014. A loan to Bahia followed between 2020 and 2021, again structured as a swap, this time bringing defender Moisés the other way to Internacional. He left Internacional for Vasco da Gama on a free transfer in 2021 after terminating his contract, then crossed to Major League Soccer with Houston Dynamo in 2022. Spells at Vitória, Mirassol and Coritiba followed in successive years, each arrival on a free transfer, before he joined Athletic Club.
The high point of Zeca's career came earlier, with Brazil's under-23 side. He was part of the squad that won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has not gone on to earn caps for the senior Brazilian national team.
A left-back by trade who can also play at centre-back, Zeca is right-footed.
