Al Maktoum Stadium holds 15,058 people, a figure set by the rebuild carried out for the 2019 Asian Cup. The club that plays there traces back to the Al Ghubaiba district, where Sheikh Muhammad Ali Zainal founded it in 1945 under the name Al Ahli, before a rename in the early 1960s made it Al Nasr — Arabic for victory. Registration with the UAE Ministry of Youth and Sport followed in 1948, and no other club in the country holds an older one; that seniority is why Al Nasr is known as Al Ameed, the patriarch.

Silverware clustered around two spells.

Al Nasr has also been a stopping point for forwards near the end of prominent careers: Luca Toni spent a season there in 2012, and Álvaro Negredo followed between 2016 and 2018.
