Arosa

Arosa lives off winter tourism. HC Arosa grew out of the local football club: eight of its members split off in December 1924 and played their first match on 14 December against Grasshopper Club Zürich.

From 1951 to 1957 Arosa took the national championship seven years running. Two further titles, in 1980 and 1982, brought the tally to nine.

Then the money ran out. In 1986, sitting eighth in the top division, the club chose to step down to the third tier rather than carry the cost of professional hockey. It kept Arosa in amateur competition for close to forty years. Promotion to the MySports League in 2019 began the climb back, and in 2025 the club reached the Swiss League, playing at the second tier of Swiss hockey for the first time since the top-flight years ended.

Between those two points sits a smaller prize: the Swiss Cup, won in 2022 against Dübendorf. Home games are played at a rink holding 2,200, in a canton where the nearest serious rivals, Davos and Chur, turn every meeting into what locals call the Bündner Derby.

No one at the club is spoken of more than Guido Lindemann, its all-time leading scorer with 465 points.
