Alberschwende sits in the Bregenzerwald, and it was there, in 1985, that EHC Bregenzerwald took shape. What began as a temporary groundshare became permanent in 2026, when the club moved its registered seat to Dornbirn for good.
The identity shifted with the geography. Renamed EC Bregenzerwald in 2016, the club dropped the regional name entirely in May 2026 and became HC Tigers ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Inter-National League title in 2012–13, won against HK Slavija Ljubljana, was followed by a runners-up finish the following season, then a second championship in 2015–16, this time at the expense of EHC Lustenau.
No one wore the shirt more often than Marc Stadelmann, but it is Roberts Lipsbergs who sits atop the scoring list built up across the club's spell in the Inter-National League and its later move into German and Alpine hockey — the name still cited first whenever the conversation turns to who the Forests, or the Tigers, actually had on the ice.
