Biarritz Olympique

Two local sides, Biarritz Stade and Biarritz Sporting Club, merged in April 1913 to give the town a single club strong enough to carry it.

Home games are played at the Parc des Sports Aguiléra, which holds around 13,500. Red and white are the club's colours, with green worked in as a nod to the Basque Country around it.

The championship belongs to two eras: titles in 1935 and 1939, then three more in 2002, 2005 and 2006, the years the club also reached the Heineken Cup final twice, losing to Munster in 2006 and to Toulouse in 2010. The one European trophy came in between, the 2012 Challenge Cup, beaten 21-18 past Toulon at The Stoop in London.

The last decade has taken the club the other way. Relegation from the Top 14 came in 2014, a single season back in the top flight in 2021 ended in immediate relegation, and debts running past €6 million left the club sold for a symbolic euro in 2024 before an administrative drop to Nationale followed in 2025. Through all of it, no name is tied to Biarritz more than Serge Blanco, the full-back who carried the club through the 1980s and 1990s and lifted the Challenge Yves du Manoir with them in 1989.
