Its handball section came together in 2013 within the multi-sport club 1. SC Bohumín 98.

The women's team is known locally as Bohumínky, and the climb from the second tier came fast: the side won the 1. Liga Women in the 2024/2025 season and stepped up to the MOL Liga, the joint Czech-Slovak top flight.

Top-flight handball asked more of Bohumín than the town's own hall could give back. Sportovní hala Bohumín, also called SH Bospor, holds around 200 spectators. In 2025/2026 the team finished third among Czech clubs, twelfth overall, then lost the promotion-relegation playoff and go back down for 2026/2027.
