Bromley

George Brown joined Bromley in 1938 and did not leave the pitch until 1961, a stretch that took in two FA Amateur Cups, two Athenian League titles and two Isthmian League Premier Division championships. He remains the club's record appearance-maker and its record scorer with 570 goals, a tally built across the amateur era that shaped Bromley long before anyone at the club thought seriously about the Football League.

The club had already been playing under that name since 1892, taking Spartan League and Isthmian League titles in its first two decades at Hayes Lane, the Hayes ground that still holds Bromley today, now with room for 5,150. The move into the professional pyramid came much later: the Conference South title in 2015 lifted the club into the National League, and from there Bromley kept climbing — an FA Trophy in 2021/22, a play-off final win in 2024 that finally put them in the Football League, and the League Two championship in 2025/26. Sutton United remain the fixture with the sharpest edge, a derby known locally as El Plástico from the years both sides played on artificial pitches.

Michael Cheek carried much of that recent run. His goals have made him the leading scorer of Bromley's modern era, and in 2021/22 he finished top scorer in the National League itself, the season that also brought the FA Trophy back to Hayes Lane.
