Debrecen's handball team goes into the 2026–27 season under a new name on its shirts, DVSC Skyline.

The identity underneath the sponsor name has changed before. What became Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club in 1957 had played the previous two seasons as Debreceni Törekvés.

The club's best years ran through the 1980s and into the mid-1990s. Hungarian titles came in 1955 and 1987, and between 1985 and 1991 Debrecen took the domestic cup five times. The peak arrived in Europe: EHF Cup wins in 1995 and 1996 made Loki the only side to defend that trophy.

Matches against Ferencváros carry their own name in Hungary, rangadó. Home games are played at the Hódos Imre Sports Hall, opened in 1976 and rebuilt between 2018 and 2020.

No name is tied to that run of titles more than Ákos Komáromi's. He coached Debrecen through most of the 1980s and returned in the early 1990s.
